Pint Size Chat is an animated series combining animation, motion capture, and digital puppetry.

Peter Spence, founder of Putty Studios, has been working with these different creative techniques for over two decades. A wide variety of award-winning productions have kept his studio busy, and a willingness to continually evolve the tools used has meant that Putty Studio continues to be at the forefront of the industry.

“One of the big challenges has been developing an efficient production pipeline for the required animation and motion capture” explains Peter. “It’s a show that I started planning many years ago before the technology was developed, but I could see that it was nearly possible. It’s been like following an incomplete treasure map, that revealed itself in sections as the journey progressed.”

Recent advances in motion capture technology meant that he could finally move forward in to the final stages of production.

Having developed and built additional software and hardware, Putty Studios now has a complete tool set to deliver high quality animated productions in a fraction of the time that it would traditionally take.
